As a key part of our team approach to patient care, our Physician Assistants (PAs) collaborate with Rush physicians and the entire health care team to care for patients in medicine and surgery. It’s an exceptional relationship that encourages learning and supports career advancement. Our board-certified PAs conduct histories & physicals, formulate, implement, and monitor treatment plans, educate patients, handle medical emergencies, and first-assist physicians in the operating room – each with their own supervising physician. Our diverse group of PAs work in over 12 specialties here at Rush, bringing a wealth of medical and surgical expertise. Additionally, they can have a hand in educating future PAs by participating in our innovative 33-month-long provisionally accredited Physician Assistant training program. Rush PAs are also involved in the development of new surgical techniques as well as new drug and research trials, a benefit of working alongside top professionals in our academic teaching medical center.
